empower program

The EMPOWER youth program is open to those who identify as female, two-spirited, genderqueer, non-binary or to any others who would benefit or are interested.

After a  year of changes due to COVID we adapted some of our previous programs and spent the year with a small group of 8 youth developing our new "EMPOWER Youth Program." This participant guided program is designed to encourage confidence, acceptance and self expression. Participants create the weekly sessions based on their interests and needs as the year progresses. By keeping our groups small, we are able to foster a comfortable environment that empowers and  supports one another while ensuring individual needs are met.

After such a successful first year as an afterschool program we will be now offering two age groups that will each run weekly, with the goal of developing leadership and social skills of  participants from our community. The EMPOWER program provides a safe space designed to support, build confidence, and promote positive self esteem.

Each week participants will help run and develop the program based on their needs and interests. The program is designed to foster resiliency, leadership skills, build connections, increase positive communication and coping skills and learn about community engagement.

These programs are developed and facilitated by our Women's Support Worker, Sarah.
